Visit the Maldives While you Still Can!

The Republic of Maldives is a country comprised of 26 atolls in the Arabian Sea. It is a popular tourist destination for those seeking a romantic getaway. I had the great privilege of visiting this wonderful country in the spring of 2016. However, with the threat of global warming only increasing, the opportunity to visit the Maldives may disappear in the next couple of decades. I hope you get a chance to visit! Here are some of the highlights from my trip.

We flew to the capital Male, and from there took a smaller plain to an island and then finally a boat to the island where we booked our lodging. We were greeted with a fancy coconut drink while waiting to check in.

The lounge area at the front was beautiful. I could spend all day just relaxing with my feet in the sand.

The island we stayed on was so small we could walk around the entire coast and it only took about an hour or two. The weather was mild and having a beach to play in right in the backyard of our room was enchanting.

I tried to wake up in time to see the sunrise, but it was hard to do. I spent a lot of time just lounging around watching the waves and drinking beer.

We spent most of the vacation relaxing and playing in the water, but there are tons of activities to partake in such as scuba diving, snorkeling, etc.

The trip wasn’t cheap, however. I can’t remember the total cost, but it for me you can’t put a price on experiences.

If you get the opportunity, you must see this amazing country! I hope to go back and visit someday, hopefully before it disappears beneath a rising ocean.
