The short answer is yes. The long answer is it’s not worth the time. I’ve been exploring various ways to make money on the side, and I decided to give the surveys another chance. I had tried them in the past, but quickly gave up because the task was so tedious and not worth the pay out. I decided to try out some of the leading survey sites including Inbox Dollars, SwagBucks, and Survey Junkie. This time I devoted about two weeks to trying to make it worth the effort. I spent several hours (I forgot to count how many) and at the end of the two weeks I had about $20. I can say with confidence that if you’re looking for ways to make money online, survey sites are not a good way. There are many reasons why.
It’s time consuming.
Many of the surveys I filled out took me 30 minutes to an hour and only paid somewhere between 1 and 3 dollars. For that kind of effort, I could make money elsewhere. The longer the survey, the bigger the pay out, but with that kind of time consumption, I could’ve done something much more productive.

It’s tedious.
I get so tired of filling out the same information over and over again. Not to mention, many of the surveys have trick questions to make sure you’re paying attention. If you’re going to fill out surveys for money, you have to be attentive and honest and after awhile, it’s just exhausting.

So much spam!
Anytime you fill out surveys or subscribe to offers, you have to submit your phone number and/or email address. Now my phone keeps blowing up with texts for “special offers” and my email account is full of junk. If you’re going to pursue this as a side gig, I highly recommend having a burner account.

Too much screen time
I’m trying to reduce the amount of time I spend staring at a screen. It feels like I’m either on my phone or my computer all day long. This side gig requires so much screen time and after enough surveys my eyes are burning!

You could get your data stolen
Many of the apps and games you can download on your phone have the potential to steal your data. A good deal of personal and financial information is stored in our mobile phones and many of these games can access that information. I didn’t have any issue happen, but the game I downloaded definitely killed my battery.

If you’re looking to make a little extra money, I do NOT recommend filling out surveys or completing special offers online. It’s simply not worth the trouble.
