Zero Waste Challenge Day 26: Stop Junk Mail

Are you getting bombarded with piles of junk mail? It’s so wasteful. I can’t stand getting all the flyers, pamphlets, coupons, credit card offers, and other junk I don’t want. Fortunately, I’ve put a stop to most of it by signing up on the no junk mail list. It’s super easy. Here’s what you can do. Click on the following links and follow the steps to opt out of junk mail.

Sometimes it can take a few weeks before you stop receiving the mail, but it worked out for me. Now for the companies I’m subscribed to, I had to contact them directly either through email or by calling to be put on the do not mail list. And when it comes to your bank, insurance, utilities, and other accounts, if you visit the website you should have the option to go paperless. I’ve gone paperless on pretty much all of my accounts and I handle everything electronically. It’s so much easier.

After doing these two things, I almost never get mail now. You can also use an app called PaperKarma which helps you unsubscribe by taking a picture of the unwanted junk mail. It only takes about 30 minutes or so to unsubscribe, opt out, and go paperless with your mail and billing accounts. I highly recommend it. It’s saved me a ton of paper waste!
