Zero Waste Challenge Day 25: Be Prepared!

In today’s world, we’re all so busy and overworked. We’re bombarded with constant bad news and drama on social media. Sometimes it’s hard to remember to just take a break and slow down and really examine our lives. Day 25 of the Zero Waste Challenge focuses on the concept of being prepared in order to stay waste free.

I’m a big believer in taking one’s time, not rushing, and making informed decisions. If we’re constantly working, it’s hard to always remember to do that. If we simplify our lives and scale down, we can make the small preparations to live a more sustainable life. For instance, remember to bring your grocery tote or reusable coffee mug with you. Take the time to pick up trash when you’re on your daily walk. Prepare your lunch in advance so that you don’t have to go out and buy one. Little changes like this can help us live a more sustainable lifestyle, but they require preparation.

One of the reasons I decided to start working as a professional organizer was so that I could help people simplify their lives. When your life is less rushed and there’s less pressure, you have more time to focus on the little things that matter. Kathryn recommends having a zero waste kit with water bottle, reusable straws, travel mug, etc. I want to do something similar and make one green living to go pack. So for Day 25, I’m going to sit down, take my time, and really plan out a better way to live that reduces my waste. Wish me luck!
